(M): Anna Ekeledo (Executive Director, Afrilabs – one of several partners to the Africa Creatives Alliance)

Africa is at the cusp of witnessing a transformative moment for the Continent’s creative sector with the recent launch of the Africa Creatives Alliance (ACA). whose mission is to revolutionise the Continent’s creative landscape by supporting entrepreneurs across fashion, arts, mechatronics, culinary arts, and multimedia.

Looking to empower young entrepreneurs and therefore unlock Africa’s vast creative potential, the Alliance intends to bring together creative hubs, incubators, policymakers, and other stakeholders to build a sustainable ecosystem that nurtures innovation.

ACA’s Four Pillars include:
📌Ecosystem Convening
📌Policy Advocacy
📌Education & Capacity Building
📌Infrastructure Development & Investment

As essential takeaways from the launch, Anna Ekeledo (Executive Director, Afrilabs – one of several partners to ACA) stressed these points:

1️⃣ Rising Global Demand: The world is turning to Africa for content in fashion, music, and arts, but the revenue isn’t catching up. It’s time to build structures that turn creative projects into investment-ready ventures.

2️⃣ Policy Advocacy: The absence of solid intellectual property frameworks is limiting revenue creation. We must push for better policies to protect and support our creatives.

3️⃣ Collaboration for Growth: By joining forces with new and existing networks, the ACA will elevate Africa’s creative industry to new global heights.

The ACA launch marks a significant step towards harnessing the potential of Africa’s cultural and creative sectors for socio-economic development and continental unity.
