Short description: This competition is organised by SPIE – the international society for optics and photonics, located in Bellingham, USA.

The theme of the photo contest is: The Power of Light.

Deadline
16 September, 2024

Who may enter
The photo contest is open to adults aged 18 and up, both amateur and professional photographers. Each person may submit a maximum of two photos.

Entry fee
The competition is free to enter.

Prizes
• 1st prize: US $2,500
• 2nd prize: US $1,000
• 3rd prize: US $500
• Two Technology and Science Prizes: US $750 each

Examples of content include, but are not exclusive to, artistic images that depict:
• Various properties of light and how it interacts with the atmosphere, nature, and materials
• Light technology such as lasers, LEDs, etc.
• Images created with light technology such as telescopes and microscopes
• People interacting with light and/or light technology
• The betterment of the human condition with light
