The case for Cassava (L-R): Dr. (Mrs). Florence Ajimobi, Oluyemisi Iranloye (Founder/ Managing Director, Psaltry International)

On March 22, 2024, Dr. (Mrs.) Florence Ajimobi (wife of the late Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi) paid a courtesy visit to Oluyemisi Iranloye (Founder & Managing Director, Psaltry International – Africa’s largest producers of Cassava and Cassava derivatives).

Mrs. Ajimobi’s visit was poignant. It was not just a testament to the longstanding relationship and mutual respect between both parties, but also a nod of recognition as to why root crops such as cassava are the future of food security in Africa.

Iranloye has certainly earned her title as the ‘Queen of Cassava’. Established in 2005, her company Psaltry International is the first cassava processing company in Africa ((and the second in the world) to produce cassava-based sorbitol . Psaltry also run an out grower and in-grower scheme of more than 3,500 farmers and 500 young agri-preneurs.

Steering Cassava production in excess of 10,000 tons per year, Iranloye sits atop an impressive annual turnover that now surpasses $12 million.
