Last week, Kevin Ryan (Founder & CEO at AlleyCorp) announced that his company had made a $1 million investment in Halo Braid, with its Founder & CEO, Yinka Ogunbiyi, taking home the top prize in a keenly contested, inaugural Peerless Pitch competition, hosted by AlleyCorp.

Describing herself as an entrepreneur and inventor passionate about the intersection of novel technologies and culture, Yinka’s Halo Braid is the only automated hair braider on the market for Black hair. The Halo Braid not only cuts down braiding time from hours to minutes, but also produces neatly crafted, beautiful, long-lasting, and perfectly even braids.

Commercially, Halo Braid gives the hair stylist an opportunity to double or triple their braiding income, as well as enhance their value-add by offering a service that caters to all hair types.

An impressed Ryan was convinced that Ogunbiyi’s background as a two-time founder and technical robotics expert added gravitas to her pitch presentation and the many conversations and due diligence that came before it.

As AlleyCorp continues to build and invest in transformative companies for the present and future, Ryan adds:

We couldn’t be happier for Yinka and are excited to welcome her to our portfolio.
