(R-L): Demi Samande (Founder & Creative Director, Majeurs Furnitire); Senator Tokunbo Abiru ( representing the Lagos East Senatorial District at the 9th Nigerian National Assembly); Ajibola Ponnle (Founder, Human Investment Group, Africa)

Architect Demi Samande  is the Founder and Creative Director of Majeurs Furniture – an interior dĂ©cor company originally founded in London, which specialises in upholstery, restoration and production of fabric and leather furniture.

Recently, Majeurs Holdings had the pleasure of hosting leading human capacity development organisation, the Human Investment Group Africa (HIG) on a tour of Majeurs’ exceptional training academy, whose production facility is dedicated to developing the next generation of furniture makers. HIG focuses on growth in Africa through facilitating coaching programs, skill development, youth development, and women empowerment.

Says Demi:

Ajibola Ponnle, [Senator] Tokunbo Abiru , and other esteemed guests engaged with our talented young trainees, witnessing firsthand the skills they are honing. We were thrilled to discuss our shared vision with HIG and the Senator, exploring opportunities for collaboration to further enhance skill acquisition for even more young people. Our pride was palpable as our students demonstrated their passion for learning.

In 2016, Demi had returned from the UK to Lagos, Nigeria, to open her business Majeurs Furniture, focused on creating homemade furniture to serve the African continent. Since then, Majeurs has received global recognition for using locally sourced materials (wood, foam, fabrics) as a base for its furniture range.

Navigating the furniture-making industry: “Not only was I a young woman doing what would traditionally be considered a man’s job, but I am a black female doing what is considered an old white man’s job” – Demi Samande 🎥DemiSamande

Today, with headquarters in Lagos-Nigeria, Majeurs Furniture are a full-solutions provider with a team of experts that creates the perfect interior pieces, exporting their products across Africa, Europe, and the Americas, following strict occupational health and safety procedures.

The company’s classic and contemporary designs, merged with clean modern lines, have impressed clients all over the world.
