The African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD), in partnership with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), has opened applications for the 5th cohort of the Home Grown Solutions (HGS) Accelerator for Pandemic Resilience.

This program supports the growth of African healthcare companies, strengthening the continent’s ability to withstand future pandemics. The initiative aligns with the African Union’s Energise Africa Initiative and Agenda 2063.

Program Highlights:

The HGS Accelerator provides tailored support to early-, growth-, and mature-stage healthcare businesses in three key areas:

  • Context-Specific Advisory: Expert guidance addressing the unique challenges faced by healthcare enterprises.
  • Investment Readiness Support: Assistance in preparing for investment opportunities.
  • Strategic Partner Matching: Connections with potential partners to drive growth and collaboration.

Eligibility Requirements:

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Company Stage: Be a registered for-profit entity with demonstrated market traction, a significant customer base, and the potential for scaling beyond its current size.
  • Impact on Health Systems: Manufacture medical consumables or devices in Africa, provide healthcare services to patients (diagnostic, treatment, or other), or offer technology solutions that improve health access or delivery.
  • Home-Grown Solution: Operate primarily or exclusively in Africa (preferably across multiple countries), employ predominantly local staff, and have strong African representation in leadership.

Shortlisted companies will be contacted for further information and potential interviews.

This is a valuable opportunity for African healthcare businesses to enhance their operations and contribute to strengthening the continent’s health systems.

Application Deadline: February 28, 2025.
