William B. Stevens (Consul General at the U.S. Consulate General in Lagos, Nigeria – M); Adanne Uche (Founder, Ady’s Agro Processing – R)).

Adanne Uche (Founder of Ady’s Agro) and a host of guests recently joined William B. Stevens (the US Consul General at the U.S. Consulate General in Lagos,) at a reception celebrating women in business and arts .

Ms. Uche is one to watch. Her business, which offers a variety of nutritious spices, seasonings, herbs, oils that have become a household name for almost every type of meal, has seen rapid growth over the years. And several recognitions point to her progress.

Adanne has just been introduced by the African Food Changemakers (AFC) as a ‘stellar Ambassador, and a champion of innovation and progress as she leads the way towards a more resilient and sustainable future in agribusiness’.

A few weeks prior, she had announced her selection into the Leading African Women in Food Fellowship (LAWFF) programme by the AFC, which involves a six-month stint of mentorship, training, peer-to-peer support, increased visibility through strategic media support, and connections to AFC partner networks.

Says Uche: ” I have followed in the footsteps of Ndidi Nwuneli in the food processing [business] and all her achievements. I told myself I have to be as exceptional as she’s been.

“I’ve never been one to give up. I applied for the first [AFC-LAWFF] cohort and didn’t get in. My heart broke into pieces, but I had four friends that were selected, so I kept keeping tabs on them and the process”.

This year, Adanne tried again. And she made it into LAWFF.
